CRADLE OF FILTH Debut in Billboard Top 200!
April 3, 2003British black metallers CRADLE OF FILTH have achieved a new milestone in their relentless mission to infect America with sonic decadence. The band's Red Ink/Epic debut, "Damnation and a Day", has landed at #140 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart in its first week in release. It also appeared at #3 on the New Artist (Heatseeker) Chart and #20 in the Hard Music Chart. Not only is this accomplishment a landmark for the band, but the genre as well, as CRADLE OF FILTH can now be noted as the first black metal band to crack the Billboard Top 200.
Equally impressive, on the radio front, "Damnation and a Day" debuted on CMJ's Loud Chart at #4 with a bullet, CMJ's Crucial Spins Chart at #6, FMQB Aggro Chart at #5, and RNR at #8.
David Wallace, CRADLE OF FILTH's product manager at Red Ink/Epic comments on the news: "We had high expectations for CRADLE as we knew what they were capable of and were aware of how devout their fan base is. But even we were shocked by the phenomenal first week numbers. With Ozzfest just a couple of months away — we're confident that this is going to be the metal release of the year."
